Default Diving around London- Clubs, Lakes...

Hi folks,

this is Leif from Germany. I will work for 4 months in London, from
Dec - March.

Does anybody know a diving club, enter etc., where I (CMAS ***, most of
my dives in cold fresh water lakes in GER, dry suit) can join for 4
months and find some buddies for some nice dives in England?
Do you have some lakes around or should it be better to aim the
channel?

Thanx,

Leif

You'd be welcome in most BSAC clubs, including ours www.WFSAC.info, although
we tend to wind down over the winter months. Have a look at this listing,
and contact one or two near where you'll be based.

There's not much diving near London - most of us go to the Channel, but the
sea's getting rough at this time of year! Portland is better sheltered than
many sites. There are quarries at Stoney Cove (in Stoney Stanton)
http://www.ukdivers.net/sites/stoney.htm and at Gildenburgh
http://www.gildenburgh.com/, but these are used mostly for training.

There is also an organisation called DiveFun www.divefun.co.uk which
organises UK-based diving via the Internet, but I've no experience of them.

Never heard of Wraysbury ? A diver accused them of causing boils on his bum
a few years ago. God it makes me laugh just thinking about it. ROTFL at the
time.

Try the lake in Wraysbury. It's not too deep, but it's alright.
