| Hi All, Well I have just bought myself a nice new shiny IXUS 400 which I was kinda hoping to take underwater. Looking online at the housings available, the Canon housing seems to retail around £150, but doesn't look as solid as the offerings from Ikelight and Light & Motion (which are several times the price). Obviously I don't want to take chances with a £450 camera, so what's peoples opinions on housings for this camera (whatever housing I buy does however need to have a tripod mount). I'm going to be spending a bit of time as a sports diver, so as long as it's rated to 30/35m that should be sufficient. Many thanks in advance Dan Ricketts |

I don't know anybody who has flooded a Canon housing, but there may be somebody here who does (or has done so themselves). I know of people who flood Ikelight regularly. I guess Canon can afford to spend a lot on their housings, as they'll sell them not only to divers but also to anybody who wants to take a digital camera on the beach or whatever. Lets face it - it's the research that costs the money - the case itself is a bit of plastic with a few springs and O-rings in it. Alun Harford |

I had my IXUS 400 and the canon case (I can't recall the model number) with me and it performed faultlessly. The case is rated to 40m, and has a tripod mount. I didn't use it on the Coolidge in Vanuatu as it's a little deep, but I did take down to 35m in other places I have a few hundred photos (and a couple of hours of UW video) which I may try and get up on a website soon. Let me know if you want me to send you any though. Cheers Simon |
