Why don't you just use one of the excellent short link utilities, such
as: http://spod.cx/s/

even when the link is so long you get a "User ID invalid" page when
clicking on it?

Well, if the page isn't there, or the wrong link was given, its going to be
given the same with a short link - just you won't be able to see the link
til after its opened.

The deal is that the link may be correct in the mail, but if it spans
more than one line your mail reader may or may not split the line in two
in an unexpected manner, possibly inserting a random line return
character. Because most of the URL is passing encoded info to the
server, this might not be obvious.

The result is that the correct URL appears on your screen, then is
pasted to your browser incorrectly. In this particular case, if the
break happens to be in the right place it truncates the ebay memberid
from 1232432235 to 12324. Ebay doesn't know who that is so reports the
error and doesn't supply the desired page.

So the original URL was correct, but truncation caused your problem.

Nods profusely...... use a short link and if you think someone might not
want to follow it post the full one as well underneath !!
