Mega never had any problems with a Buddy Commando or a TekWing, apart from a
Commando which got nicked!

Just about the best after sales service of any company you will ever
come across

BC's are not the best designed but about the best built

Most of the rest of the stuff is both well built and designed

Hear, hear. Just got some bits (pocket popper & D ring) which had broken,
for my Commando jacket. FOC. It must be 10 years old.

I think the standard comment is bullet proof or "agricultural". I have one
and use it when diving in a wet-suit (overseas),. Great piece of kit, but if
I have had to buy a new BC, I would look at other makes. They are quite
heavy and bulky compared to other BC's so takes up space and weight when
travelling.

Yes, but they last for ever, and when you do need spares or service, AP
Valves won't let you down. Personally, I'd never buy anything else.

AP is the BC of choice for most clubs & schools because
they are extremely tough. They dont call one range the
Commando for nothing!

Spares are easily obtainable and servicing/after sales exemplary.
AP give major financial incentives to schools to go with there
products, resuting in many divers in the UK picking an AP as there
first BC.

Is it the best? All depends what you want it for.

For training and the odd cold water bimble? Good.
However if you go further and start doing serious stuff, then wings
will start calling and in anybodies wish list, the AP red.wing/wing
is not normaly included.

For warm water diving forget it. You can get a nice stylish
Italian/French BC which will dry in a fraction of the time have better
and more ergonomic features and each year you get the latest
version. In most cases at just over half the retail cost of an AP.
It's also smaller/lighter and packs away (dry) in your suitcase
and on average is more comfy then an AP.

So the awnser is well made ballistic proof BC's that will go on
and on. You just have to ask yourself if you need to get from
a to b, do I need a car or a tank!
