| Part of the fun at IceB is usually to see how many people we can turn to the dark side (OC twins), or the yellow side!. Just for clarity though, many of the old timers bring along extra kit for people to try. How about a list of who is bringing what, and who wants to try what, then we could try and match things up. I'll be bringing: 2 x 3 litre stages (one dumpy, one standard) possible 1 x twin 10l (no wing or backplate tho.) 1 x 7L ali stage 1 x 7L steel stage I'll be there both days. Digs |

I like that setup so if you don't mind Franks also offered a go on the Hog (What's the word for non-inverted? Upright doesn't sound right) rigged set. Playtime! Christmas hols aren't happening this year as I'm not taking any time off so Icebreakers is my hol weekend! I must admit I'm looking forward to it, especially as I'm in Belfast from this Saturday afternoon until Wednesday so I'll miss Birmingham (that's probably not a bad thing). I'd like to try one of everything...! Actually twins would be something i'd want to look at, but probably want another at very least 6 months before even thinking about that - apart from anything else I can't afford the tanks, never mind manifolds and BCD connector things and stuff! That'd be an 'after the summer' jobbie if I decide I want to go that way - do dive leader and nitrox first too, and get lots more experience! Currently managing 3 dives every other week so far, plus teaching 2 pool lessons per week, but Egypt at Christmas will soon bump that up (roll on December 12th - can't wait!!) In reality, no idea if i'll be able to come at all, completely depends on where I am at the time. For New Year I could either be in Durham, Coventry (well, near enough), or Cornwall, but frankly haven't got a clue where at the minute! How much forward planning is required for UKRS trips - never done one before! Would mid-December be enough notice if I was going to come along... although I suppose its only Stoney so I can obviously come, but I mean do you start with dive plans a week or two in advance or just dive with whoever on the day? Might see people there if i'm not too far away and too hungover to dive / drive... and if I can steal a car for the weekend... and whether i've finished my Uni coursework!!! All very complicated - the organisation of my life is fantastic (oh yeah, that reminds me got some work to do for tomorrow) :o( David PS - if I do come I could maybe lend someone a single 12l if they felt they wanted to try it for the experience... would swap for a nice shiny rebreather! Thats about the most I can offer in terms of kit - oh, plus a pony after the weekend... and a nice shiny torch (my new FaMi 2001 - very nice!) but you'd have to fight me for that! Ummm.... and fins! :O) |
