Default Pony's on Red Sea liveaboards?

Just a quick query, do liveaboards in the northern Red Sea usually have any
cylinders suitable as ponys, or can you usually request them, or would I
have to hire one separately?
I'll check with the person organising our trip next week, but I wanted to
know before the dive show and it just occurred to me...

Ashore. But expect to be looked at strangely.

I'm off next friday (MV Valerie) and I've never bothered with a pony. I take
my own regs, which I trust more than hired ones, and dive with people with
the UK style buddy mentality so they are always within reach.

In my old open circuit days i tackled the problem in 2 ways.

1. Took my own 3ltr pony with me. No problems with air ports etc as long as
the valve is open / cylinder empty.
or
2. Took twinning bands and blocks and twinned up 2x12ltr cylinders supplied
on the boat. This was easier as it was nearer the configuration i was diving
in the UK anyway. If you want to do a few deeper dives you can eg. the arch
on the southern side of elphinestone (thoroughly recomend it!)

Steve

The ones with the built in buddy line. I've dived with this bunch
before and a couple of them were so pleased to not be asked
to navigate that they happily followed me about with my nose
in the camera.

I did find it a bit unnerving after ambling down to the engine room
on one boat to be told afterwards that he had never been inside
a wreck before. Still we did the Thistlegorm two days later so he
got over it.

As one who is persistently seduced by superbikes
I can only comment that the phrase 'performance car'
is an oxymoron.
