| Trying to find a whiter light for my GF torch.. As I understand it the standard lamp that comes with the GF torches are around the 35-3700K colour temp? This gives a yellower light than the 4700K.. So I thought I'd try to find some. In the UK I can find only a couple of people who sell them.. Lumb at £22 or a company called 'Outside in' at £15 a pop. I've looked around elsewhere here and found http://www.internationallamps.co.uk/ - who were very helpful and sell 4700 K 12v MR16 lamps at £2 a pop. Great I thought! Then I discovered they are 38 degree beams.. damn.. So if thats what you want theres a link (no connection to them by the way) Oh well. back to the drawing board. So I tried contacting several companies in the states.. great! they do them at 5 for $20 (the makers of Solux). Its just the air freight price of $75 that put me off.. So. a few questions.. 1. Does anyone know of a company in the UK that sells a 4700K + 12v + 35or50W + 50mm MR16 + GU5.3 + 2pin lamp with either a 10-15 degree beam? 2. If not, then I am prepared to order some from the states if there is enough interest here (unless some kind diver living in the US would be prepare to ship them/knows of a cheaper way of sending them to the UK / someone is going over and can bring them back).. 3. Is anyone interested, or are you happy with your standard lamps.. There must be a way of getting a true colour (or aproaching true colour) lamp here is the UK that doesn't cost an arm and a leg..? I am still waiting on a couple of other replies back, which I'll post up if anyones interested.. Cheers Wilbo. |

But 'true colour' do you mean more white i.e daylight if so stick some blue tv lighting gel ( 201 full CTB ) on the 3700K and that will take it up to 5600K+. http://www.leefilters.com/LP1.asp?PageID=32 But you will lose some light from the torch. If the reason light at the blue end of the spectrum is because the water 'filters out' the red end first so you lose penetration, then by getting rid of the red end straight away doesn't that kind of defeat the point? Or am I missing something else thats good about white light? David |
