| I'm considering replacing my Buddy Tekwing - I'd like a horseshoe-shaped wing with a more reliable bottom-dump. I currently dive with twin (232) 7s, tho I'm contemplating 12s in the not-too-distant future. (Stages aren't likely to appear anytime soon). I'd rather not have bungees. It'd be nice if it were a colour other than black :o) I strongly suspect a DR Classic would be too large. I'm not a fan of Halcyon wings (or at least, of their prices). Anybody care to recommend a wing that'll fit the bill? Cheers Dominic |

A lot of the regulars in this newsgroup dive on them (including myself) and find them to be very good, reliable wings. From what I can gather, they kinda fit the bill ideally - they have a reliable, no nonsense bottom dump, are bungee free and are available in red, blue or black. Not sure if Sea&Sea (the UK distributors of DR kit) import the red and blue wings so it might be worth giving them a bell... > I strongly suspect a DR Classic would be too large. It's certainly too big for singles but they're specifically designed for twinset diving. They certainly don't 'flap about' (as some detractors of non-bungee'd wings claim) as the wing tends to naturally wrap itself around the tanks creating a very nice, streamlined profile. The Halcyon wings (which I'm just about to change over to) are very good too - whether they're worth the extra £80 is debateable though... If you're interested, I'll probably be selling off my DR Classic wing very soon. Apart from a tiny tear in the outer cordura material (about the size of a 5p peice), it's in immaculate condition. They sell for £220 but I'd probably take £140 for mine... |

As it happens, I have used it almost exclusively with twin 12 232s and have no complaints. It does have a bungee, though not a "bondage bungee". There is a single cord around the inside of the horseshoe which you can tighten to pull the wing closer to a single. The option to take it off if it bothers you is always available! Not sure about colours though, mine is black! HTH David |

Retail in the US is about 175USD. Add VAT and transport and you still have a nice wing for a very good price. And you can have'em in red if you don't want black. Leisurepro stocks them, as does Northeastscubasupply. I've got one (I can mail some pictures if needed) and I'm very satisfied with it. Order the wing with a 14" corrugated hose, the standard hose is a bit long. | I just got an oxycheq wing which is the nicest simplest wing I've run accross, much nicer than the halcyon (imho) - had to get it imported, which took a couple of weeks, but it was worth it Dominic Humphries <oneandoneis2@hotmail.com> wrote in message news:2a4d306a.0312020717.13463f0@posting.google.co m... > I'm considering replacing my Buddy Tekwing - I'd like a > horseshoe-shaped wing with a more reliable bottom-dump. > > I currently dive with twin (232) 7s, tho I'm contemplating 12s in the > not-too-distant future. Works fine with both. The size of the manifold means that there's more gap between the cylinders with twin 7s, so the overall width isn't that much less. Because they're designed for bigger twinsets than my 7s - I might be wrong, but they look uncomfortably large for a small twinset. If anyone has used a Classic with twin 7s can naysay this, I'd be happy to go with a (red) classic. |

Are you in a hurry to finalise this? Do you have the 7s already? I will have a DR Classic at icebreakers you could rig (provided we can tear it away from DaveA). Then you can blow it up and see what its like. My hoses probably aren't OK to dive as mine are overlength for reasons that I won't go into here. nigelH |

Much obliged to everybody for the replies. |
