Default Holiday insurance

Hi

Doing some diving in Spain next year, and I understand most places insist on
seeing your insurance.

My multi-trip annual policy covers me for scuba if I'm certified (which I
am) - will that do, or do I need a more specific policy (and if so, who's
good?).

I have multi-trip insurance through Direct Travel Insurance
www.direct-travel.co.uk who seem ok (never made a claim). You have to study
the small print to make sure you are ok it seems.

Anyway, DTI's upper age limit is 65 and I am 63 next birthday so I was
wondering about my dive insurance after 65. Should I keep with my current
company or should I be looking to another one where I could feel confident
that I am getting a good deal in my old age and maybe build up some sort of
no claims bonus with them????

They all should do. Decompression treatment isn't covered by the Spanish
NHS. And the Guardia do spot checks in tourist resorts.

Should be fine.

Make sure your policy states the depth to which it will cover you.
Otherwise you will have to buy expensive insurance to do (say) a 34m.
dive if your policy only covers you to 30m. Or it doesn't specify a
depth.
Columbus do an extension to their regular policy to cover you to 50m. If
you age going any deeper just tie your computer to the top of the
wreck!!

Check the depth limit.
I've heard a story of divers thinking they are covered only to find that
atcually there's a 3 metre depth limit.

Cheers - it's 30m - doing AOWD probably, so presumably ok, as the deep dive
won't go deeper than that, will it?

Not unless they violate PADI standards. In which case, your insurance
would probably be invalid anyway.
