| Got an old A-clamp AP Valves DSMB which I'd like to convert to DIN. Anyone know whether a) AP Valves supply a conversion kit and b) how much such a conversion is likely to cost me? Cheers! |

I'm having trouble figuring out what we're talking about. Lee |

When the valve on my old 'clamps onto an A-clamp to fill' gave up I took the opertunity to convert to 'screws into DIN to fill'. I seem to remember having the bottle re-valved and the new fittings for the DSMB ran to about 40 quid. I needed the new valve anyway. Be wary as they can do you fittings to screw into a 300 bar 7 turn tank valve but the standard bottle is not rated to 300 bar. nigelH |

Seems quite pricey to me - might just stick with the valve 'donut' insert instead. It's a pain having to keep screwing the damned thing into twinset each time I want to recharge my SMB but at least it doesn't cost me anything! As an when I need to get the bottle changed, I'll get the conversion done then... |

That's a more complex arrangement than I pictured when I thought about a self inflating DSMB. I don't suppose that would fit in the pocket between my plate and back. Too bad they didn't make them like some of the DIN valves, with a slug adapter for A clamp. Maybe they do. It would seem that the more versatile they are, the better. |

I think it's quite odd that they still make the A-clamp version - I would have thought it would be cheaper to only make the din fitting, and ship a (reg) A-clamp converter for filling - the converters must be everso cheap to make in bulk and as you say the resultant bundle would be smaller.
