The fact is, a lot of UK divers use mixed gas, and/or do dives that include gas switches and reasonably long decompression , even when accelerated with a high PPO2 mix. There aren't a lot of computers on the market that handle such dives well and there's a fair amount of evidence that none of them handle it as well as careful, informed plans and close adherence to them during the dive. Sarcasm aside, the advice is not bad . . .. in context. If, on the other hand, you're doing multi level no decompression dives, then I'm with you. A computer's the way to go. It's just a matter of matching your equipment to your diving. I don't like any of the Suunto models. The algorithm for nitrox includes some wierd compensation for higher PPO2 levels that I prefer to live without. I presently use nitrox capable Oceanic computers. I like the algorithm and have had good luck with mine over several years. That's why I suggested another Oceanic to you. Lee |

If I'd have wanted to hear from arseholes I could have asked my buddies to fart in unison. Thanks to others who might give me an answer which is representative of the knowledgably and experienced users of this NG. |

My suggestion that you consider another Oceanic was not sarcastic. They happen to be the computers I use and, when the ones I currently have go bottoms up, I'll seek my next one from the same source. If this represents the quality of your contributions to this NG, perhaps you should consider joining your buddies permanently. You will not be missed. Cliff. |
