The only change I make for this time of year is to wear a pair of weezel boots as well and a wicking base layer. Nick |

What are people's recommendations for wicking base layers for under the weezle extreme to give a bit of extra toastiness at this time of year? Weezle's recommendation is not to use wicking base layers at all, but put another layer of insulation on the top . Having tried Helly Hansen and Musto layers of various thicknesses in Norway, I think they're right - anything you gain from the underlayer is negated by the loss because you are preventing the lining from doing its job. I have a friend who used to work for for F&T and he recommended my base layer to me (oddly enough not all sold by F&T). I'll look out the makes/models of my stuff if people are really that interested but it cost somewhere between 40-60 quid. At the risk of thread-hopping... I haven't ever had any problems with wearing a base layer under my Weezel and the wicking effect during the dive hasn't been affected at all as far as I can tell (it certainly feels a lot warmer). Another bonus is that I can get into it before I leave the house which allows me to put my weezel on in the open and no scare the ladies/small children; get arrested for crimes against humanity; etc. Nick |
