| Due to the restraints of luggage allowances my dive gear alone gets a huge chunck of the allowance and so some things always have to be left behind!!Since I am going away and planning on some drift dives I would really like some form of smb. I know i could hire one but if i can get one for a suitable price I may as well buy one. When i was in the maldives last year i was given a small pocket smb with about 6m of line attached and some kind of weight which fitted easily into my bcd pocket. Dos anyone know o make of a similar one her or a reel which is both small, light and robust? |

Any dsmb without an over pressure relief valve would do the job (although for the minor extra size I would go for one with a valve) As regards the reel. Consider either a drop line or a spool as both are considerably smaller than the smallest reel HTH Pete diving 'at' melbourne 'dot' me 'dot' uk |

The one I use on holiday I think is a small Polar Bear one (I think - will check tomorrow) with 10m of line on and I just attach a 2lb weight to it borrowed from dive centre. Wrap the line round the weight and it is easy to store. Deploy when I get back to about 8m. Nice and fine - given it is holiday diving as opposed to grim UK stuff Snash |
