| Hello! I'm Italian (so sorry for my bad English) and it's the first time I write on this NG. I've booked for this August two weeks at Sipadan - Pulau Sipadan Resort. I have used google, but I didn't find any recent information about this resort, and some italian divers told me that this resort is not so good, they prefere the newer ones (like Abdillha or Mabul resort), even if the Pulau Sipadan resort is on wonderfull drop off.. Thank you in advance for your kind information and assurances. Bye Bye Simonetta |

Been there last year. True, accomodation is not the best -- but then hey, you're in the water the whole day anyhow... Staff was friendly & being 10 steps away from the drop-off is definitely a good thing to have. But the major advantage of the resort is that it is actually a group of resorts. If you're there for 2 weeks, you should definitely talk to the operator to get you for a few days to Kapalai (I'd suggest towards the end). The cottages there are wonderful & the diving is IMO far better than Sipadan itself (it's pretty good muck diving vs the "try and find some pelagics" of Sipadan). But this is subjective, I know... I've also done a day in Mahbul (which can easily be reached out of Kapalai). Don't know whether I would spend more than 2 or 3 dives there (and IMO you MUST go with the chief DM of Kapalai to that place, he's truly amazing in finding these weird critters...). Enjoy, HaJo |

Don't know whether I would spend more than 2 or 3 dives there I agree with all above......... Kapalai is abit more than five star in my opinion. > (and IMO you MUST go with the chief DM of Kapalai to that place, he's > truly amazing in finding these weird critters...). > I dived with two different dive masters Rodel and Dondon. both found frog fish smaller than I could see with out a magnifying glass, so I would recomend any of the divemasters on Kapalai David |

When i first got in the water at Mabul i thought this is bit crap, but after a few minutes of looking around the whole place came alive, i had never looked that closely before when diving, but as you say above it is amazing what creatures are there.....some of them i have never seen in books or mag's.......Sipadan, Mabul and Kapali are a must dive......quite simply the best and most fascinating place i have dived. Take out the "goes diving bit" Dave Morgan @ Work in the UK :^) |
