Hi
I am beta testing a new community / discussion group for a mate who
hopes to market it...but he has the slight problem of not being able to
stress test it.
Feel free to post anything and reply to anything to see if it holds up
under use.

Any postings gratefully received

it is at

http://tinyurl.com/3y7h6

Please try to break it

thanks - Gordon

the fact that it hadn't loaded within about 30" of cliking the link
(with a 10MB/sec connection) suggests that it might already be broken...

might be being really harsh, as i don't know if Gordon Mackie is a regular
poster or not, but if not, he could be harvesting your info when you wait
for the page to open!

Possible, but you're not really going to harvest much info that way. The
most he'll get is an IP address, a browser type, and the knowledge that
someone was reading a scuba group; if it were a harvesting project, he'd
be wanting to acquire email addresses.

Gordon's a regular(ish) poster but I know him from Work.

He's chirman of the dive club at Head Office in Edinburgh.

I very much doubt he's harvesting as he sent this to me at work.

If he is I shall be very cross!

not harvesting anything - wouldn't know what to do with anything I
"harvested" anyway.

I also found that it sometimes needs 3 or more clicks to fire up and
have passed that to the designer (Rab Wallace - another member of the
Standard Life Dive Club)

Someone else found a bug - after registering he ended up back at the
"register" page.

Nothing sinister afoot chaps - I am just trying to get threads put in to
see if it stands up to stress - Rab's website is advertised on the site
as well.. he is an IT contractor working for Standard Life and, like me,
a regular Scottish diver. - see http://www.gordonmackie.com for info on
the dive club

regards - Gordon

What is causing you the grief is that TinyURL - the target site seems to be
expecting a GET parameter that isn't supplied by TinyURL. The direct URL
of -
http://www.metridia.com/metridium_j/...82032794182170
gets in.

Not so here... I've had success and failure on both the TinyURL link and
the direct one.
