Default Mounting umbilical torches

How do people mount umbilical torches?
I use a single tank (12l or 15l) with 3l pony mounted on the right, no other
special equipment really. I'm thinking the battery would go opposite the
pony, clipped onto the cam band on the left - i've put a bit of cord on with
a big clip which i'm planning on clipping to a secure loop on my BCD just to
make sure it won't drop off if the cam band is a bit loose or something.
The main thing I can't decide is the orientation of the battery (cable
coming out of the top or the bottom) and whether to put the cable over my
shoulder, under my arm, or right down towards the bottom of the BCD. Its a
curled cable.
Oh yeah, and I have an extendable lanyard on the head - the type with a
curly cord, but held shortened by a pinch clip until needed. This worked
reasonably well for the torch before I got the umbilical kit for it,
although as a lantern it was very big and clunky hanging infront of me.

Any suggestions? Whats the best way to mount it? What do others do?

I do plan on playing about with it (having a week in Oban next week), but
i'd like to have some idea about the merits of each before I start, give me
some starting point! Obviously if I try something and find it doesn't work
well then i'll change it...

Cheers!

David

I'll see what I can do - I assume you just mean on the surface, just so you
can see what goes where... might take me a couple of days to do it though,
i'm very slow! :o\

It's only March and you're heading for that list at "ice breakers".....With
your joke you've highlighted exactly what is wrong, and thats attitude.

Oh boy..

One day I'll learn just to pick on Pete!

I suppose you're not really a good target now I've read the
Adv Nitrox and Deco syllabus!

Why do I get the feeling I'm in for hell in the summer?

Hi
Sorry I didn't get any pictures posted - couldn't get my hands on a digital
camera, and i've been in Oban since Friday.
Anyway, I think i've got myself sorted now - some nice new octo clips and a
couple of new clips for my gauges and I seem to have much better access to
everything now. Probably not particularly fantastic layout for all my
dangly bits, but I settled on something and used it for the last couple of
days' diving and it seemed to work well.
Thanks for the offer to have a look anyway! If I do ever get hold of a
camera while i'm diving i'll get some photos anyway.

David
