Heavily discounted. Your clue's there. I wouldn't. Consider a Vyper instead. -- ferret Best before: see end |

Gives very similar deco times and stops to my Aladdin. Has the "advantage" that if you bend it, it can be "straightened" by a user reset, so I guess that it could be used as a dive timer for more serious stuff later on. Overall, there are better computers about, but if it meets your requirements and is as much as you want to spend, then I don't think there is too much wrong with it. David |

It is being heavily discounted because there is the new M1 RGBM model (but the M1 doesn't seem discontinued yet, since it is still listed as a current product in Mares' Web page) : M1 RGBM http://www.mares.com/product.asp?cat=6&prod=136 M1 http://www.mares.com/product.asp?cat=6&prod=64 M1 RGBM : 254.15 Euro http://www.scubastore.com/producte.a...o=4115&desde=0 M1 : 211.65 Euro http://www.scubastore.com/producte.a...o=3173&desde=0 Considering its price and that the Suunto Favor and derivatives have been discontinued, this an interesting option. The Mares Guardian had a very bad reputation for reliability, but it seems the M1 improved a lot. I have just noticed that Mares claims: "with 11-tissue exponential deterministic algorithm, with M values (low bubble) derived from studies by Rogers and Powell (modified Haldane)." It doesn't seem to be exactly the same as the Oceanics Versa/Versa Pro *, but it is still one of the less conservatives computers around. * "The decompression model used by an Oceanic dive computer is based on the no-decompression multi-level repetitive dive schedules successfully tested by Dr Ray Rogers and Dr Michael Powell. These tests did not include dives deeper than 90 feet (27m) or decompression (stop) dives.") > I wouldn't. Consider a Vyper instead. Standard advice, but the Suunto Vyper is a bit more expensive, for a very similar (IIRC) set of features: SUUNTO, VYPER SILVER PULS PRICE: 331.08 Eur http://www.scubastore.com/producte.a...lo=517&desde=0 -- http://www.mat.uc.pt/~rps/ ..pt is Portugal| `Whom the gods love die young'-Menander (342-292 BC) Europe | Villeneuve 50-82, Toivonen 56-86, Senna 60-94 |

| Let them proof first they can make a good computer. Till now they cannot. I don't own a M1 because of all the touble with the older computers of Mares. I happily own a Suunto Cobra and don't want any other brand instead.
