| Planning to visit one of the greek islands in June. Not a diving holiday, but would prob go for a dive whilst were were there if possible. I know that a number of islands do not have diving (due to greek antiquity laws!) - Are there any islands that do? and which are the best to dive? Might just swing it, it the choice is between a couple of places! |

Places enforced max depth of 30m and no deco, no wreck dives at all and night dives only from a few places "unofficially" or even rarer with a licence. The coastguard boats had a habit of pulling alongside to check people were diving where they said theyd be too. All in all, very good vis, warm water (28c or so surface) but not masses of life. Im told Keffalona is pretty much the same so you may want to try some of the Aegean islands instead. |

As you say, not allowed to go anywhere interesting due to their antiquity laws. Last excursion was on Kos in 2002 and dived with Waterhoppers out of Kos Town. Seemed a fairly pleasant bunch. Best dive was an area called Bubbles. There's still quite a bit of volcanic activity in the region and there are places where volcanic bubbles just come through the sand on the sea-bed. Like diving in a glass of champagne. Cheers David |

Not really spectacular, but not too bad either. The most interesting site however, the petrified forest, is off limits (guess why? -- Michael Wolf ------------ Cthulhu for President! I was in Corfu a couple of years ago and did four dives with Calypso in Agios Gordis, a tiny village on the west coast. Very friendly people, good accommodation (we stayed the night with them in their cheapest room and it was as good as our hotel in Paliokastritsa!). The diving was nice, not spectacular at all. Cracking viz, a couple of big pelagics (barracuda types) and a fair sized grouper were spotted. The tiny stuff was fascinating, fan worms from a couple of mm's to about a foot across and plenty of the Mediterranean's "usual suspects". CAS -- Temperature @ Stoney?
