Default HMS Scylla

So am I the only one who thought they'd ballsed up the sinking of the Scylla
there for a minute? I now have no finger nails left! lol

Seriously, though, congratulations to all involved on what looked like a
text-book sinking - even if she did look as if she was listing to the port
side somewhat...

Sky News had live coverage of the sinking which - considering it was an hour
and a half late going down - was good to see...

Nope, I was getting a little concerned too! It looked from the underwater
view on the Beeb that she settled bolt upright in the end.

Indeed, congratulations to all involved.

Now, seeing as I'm planning on moving back up to Jockland in the very near
future - I would like to propose a UKRS Scylla dive before I go. Interested
parties contact me by email and I'll see what I can do.

Just got back from witnessing the sinking, awesome!!
Allready got our charter sorted for 2 dives on 24th April, can't wait.
Amazing to be able to reseach a modern wreck, see decent colour photo's of it
in service and actually see it go down!
Can't wait to dive an intact wreck that resembles something more than a pile of
rusty, silt covered scrap metal......

From Google search..
Scylla
Scylla. ... She threatened passing ships and in the Odessey ate six of
Odysseus' companions. Scylla was a nymph, daughter of Phorcys. ...

Do you think they knew this when she was named?

Local news said a 10 degree list to starboard (I think). Diving was not
permitted yesterday due to safety concerns over remaining air pockets.

There's a 25 minute docu on BBC1 on Wednesday night at 7.30pm, but I'm not
sure if that's just for us in the SW. Check your local listings

she definitely began to roll to starboard when she went under, and the
camera shots I saw on the highlights seemed to show water and bubbles
moving from right to left on the screen.

anyway, what an awsome day. It felt like there were a thousand boats
around the exclusion zone, and everyone was just chilling out...

....except for the muppet on the jetski and the skipper of yacht
Grifter. Well done to the old bill for nicking the jetskier, and ,
Grifter, well you know what everyone thinks of your skippering
ability.

Did the TV coverage show the mass exodus at the end? That was really
scary considering none of the gin palace and speedboat owners seem to
know how to drive? Did you see us on telly mum? We got a half second
close up on the beeb right at the end of the highlights.

Thanks to Rads for making me get up at 4:00am to drive down. Well
worth it.

Can you confirm that for us please Dave. I've just had a good rummage round
the beeb website and it shows the same thing for SouthWest as everywhere
else...

....cos if you can confirm, I can watch it on sky!

It's not like there are so many RN ships these days that they're
reduced to pulling letters out of a scrabble bag. I think it's a safe
bet they knew.
