The water looks warm, what was the temp ? i notice that you wore no suit or skin, were you not concerned about protection ? There does not appear to be an abundance of fish life, was this the case ? Well you did ask...... - You need to get closer to the subject - You need an external strobe to get some colour back - A lot of the time your subject merges into the back ground, try and frame things so that the subject is isolated from the background. See how the pictures of people and the barracuda stand out a lot better than the others. One way of doing this is to try and point the camera up HTH Pete -- Pete news 'at' melbourne 'dot' me 'dot' uk |

Try looking at the Digital Diver network lots of tips on UW digital photography. Especially on the strope fittment etc. Also making the best of natural light available, as already said get close and then closer. Shoot up and and take pics till your fingers are numb, on a recent trip I took 400 pics maybe 20 reasonable ones, its all part of a new learning curve, and ofcourse yet another way of staying poor, not that you have to try too hard when you're a diver. If you use the above solution you will lose TTL, as all the strobe can do is fire at full power. There are strobes for low end cameras that monitor the flash on the camera via fibre optic and can do TTL. You need to talk to Ocean Optics, or Cameras Underwater, or Alan James, etc. Pete S. |
