| Can anyone give me any pointers about buying a used wetsuit (probably from Ebay) for an upcoming holiday in the Med June/July? Although I'm just intending to do some snorkelling, I know from experience that the water can still be a little chilly for swimming. I used to do a lot of widsurfing a million years ago - and used to have a 3mm O'Neill suit - but I'm so far out of the loop that I'd appreciate some advice about thicknesses, brandnames to avoid, brand names to seek out etc etc. Thanks in advance folks. |

Depends on where in the Med. There is a big temperature difference between Gibraltar and Cyprus. Keith |

Although I'm You want a used wetsuit? There are two types of people. Those that piss in their wetsuit. And those that lie. I'd buy a new one. Try www.jagwetsuits.co.uk for a reasonably priced one. Buying second hand isn't going to guarentee a fit even if the size is supposed to be yours. For the sake of the £90 for a new 5mm Nordic from JAG it's got to be worth it. You're not going to save that much second hand anyway. Just looking at their size guide they do 12 as standard. Good luck DaveA -- Posted via Mailgate.ORG Server - http://www.Mailgate.ORG |

It needs to fit - try the small-ads in the local paper. Often bargains on this sort of thing. Basically if it's not ripped to buggery it's OK and the odd hole or rip can be fixed and helps keep the price down. You'll need others' advice on how thick it needs to be for the Med - my guess (not to be relied upon) is that 4 to 6mm full-length would be OK, but that really is a guess. Small caveat that my wetsuit experience is based on caving not diving. Cheers Hywel |
