Default Advice needed on drysuit purchase

Hi All,

I'm just about to complete my PADI open water diving course and have
been buying some gear, snorkel, fins and mask. I came across someone
who has both an Oceanic Flex 2000 and Aerdura drysuit but wondered if
anyone could advice on which one to get as I will be diving in the UK
quite a lot and occassionaly overseas in warmer climates. The person
selling the suits said that the Aerdura one is slightly thicker but
not that flexiable as the Flex 2000 but I'm unsure of what one to
purchase as they are both going for £200 each complete with UGGI
undergarment.

Thanks

steve

Hi Steve

I have the Flex 2000 and been using it for about 2 years and apart from
having the usual neck and cuff seals changed its fine. My mate has the
Aerdura and its fine too but looks harder wearing. If both suits fit don't
think it makes much difference which one you get. Sorry I can't be any more
constructive. I like my Flex and he like his Aerdura

Just my 2 penneth, don't know anything about these particular drysuits but you
did mention diving abroad in warmer climates...
Fairly unlikely that you would dive a drysuit in warmer climates, you'll need
to buy a wetsuit for your hols as well.
Did the man in the dive shop tell you what a cheap hobby diving is? ;)

<shrug> Not always. There was this party of us in the Canaries in March. Not the
coldest place on earth. Drysuits all round and very comfortable, well
except trying to haul rigs and stages in the sun.

I have both. Go for the Aerdura, it'll last forever (literally!), you'll end
up throwing it away because it looks terrible, rather than it leaking.
