| Well, it looks like we have got our new pad just outside Kinghorn on the Fife coast (right on the sea, stunning views across the Forth to Edinburgh) and a quick browse of the subaqua.co.uk site shows a plethora of diving resources in the Kingdom. I think I would like to join a club and herself has also expressed an interest after not getting on at all well with the PADI getitalldoneasquicklyaspossible style of training (due to having the same model of inner ear as Nigel Hewitt...) which is very difficult when your mind is focused on not throwing up rather than completing the dives on time. So if any of you good people can give me any opinions, good or bad, about the following organisations... Fife Sport Divers (SAA) Cupar Sub Aqua (BSAC) C.A.T. Diving Club (SAA) Dunfermline Sub Aqua Club (SAA) Fife Kelpies Sub Aqua Club (SAA) Glenrothes Sub Aqua Club (SAA) Levenmouth Diving (BSAC) Cloud Nine Divers Fife (SAA) Kingdom Divers (SAA) Kirkcaldy Sub Aqua Club (BSAC) Martini Association of Divers (BSAC) St Andrews Archaeological Divers (SAA) St Andrews Sub Aqua Club (SAA) Many thanks. Off to Eyemouth (new dive site on RHS of the harbour) Sunday with a few folks if you fancy it... > So if any of you good people can give me any opinions, good or bad, about > the following organisations... The only one I know of is > Cupar Sub Aqua (BSAC) Who a friend of mine trained with. I know their (ex?) DO - who is also one of the BSAC area coaches, and she's a good enough sort. I think they go to the Isle of May - apparently lovely diving - quite often. A club which isn't on your list, where I have quite a few friends, is South Queensferry. Slight disadvantage is that it is just over the bridge in Lothian, but they are a well experienced, open and active club... I dive with them quite often and they are all good blokes. I'll drop you an email with the names of some people to get in touch with who have more of an idea about what's what in "The Kingdom". A bit too soon I'm afraid - we are suposedly picking up the keys towards the end of May. > > So if any of you good people can give me any opinions, good or bad, about > > the following organisations... > > The only one I know of is > > > Cupar Sub Aqua (BSAC) > > Who a friend of mine trained with. Ah, the Isle of May, if I take a 2 minute stroll across a field to the east of the house I can see it! > A club which isn't on your list, where I have quite a few friends, is > South Queensferry. Over the bridge for the next couple of years (so I believe) is likely to be major inconvenience. > I'll drop you an email with the names of some people to get in touch > with who have more of an idea about what's what in "The Kingdom". It's the ideal job for me - I did a degree in Marine Biology in the late 70's, but couldn't find work in the field, so ended up in IT. An old mate asked me if I fancied the job a couple of years ago, so I jumped at it. I hadn't dived in about 20 years until I was asked if I fancied a dip with the sharks at Deep Sea World, and I haven't looked back since. We had some spectacular mating going on with the Sand Tigers at Blue Planet a few weeks ago (it was filmed and we may release the footage sometime) - it curtailed one or two dive nights on safety grounds, but we hope to have some good news in a few months, fingers crossed! The water at DSW is a bit cold for them and they haven't shown any mating behaviour there yet. I like both places to dive in - I volunteer to do some U/W photography from time to time - aren't I good! Cheers Chris Quinn |

I will probably end up spending a lot of time at DSW, my nephew thinks its just the best place ever! I did the epcot aquarium dive when I was in the states last year - brilliant fun and just totally different. They only have diddie little reef sharks.... CAS |
