| Went on Sunday for the day & there are notices all over warning that from the 1st of June admission is going up to £10 per visit from £6. Unless you buy a loyalty card for £80 which permits 10 dives. This is due (they say) to 9-11 plus large insurance premiums etc. When I get hands on that Bin Laden!!!!!!!!!!! |

I'll be spending the extra 20 mins and driving to the lakes and diving for free... Chris |

Yes, I can go with that. The increase in insurance premiums has been well documented. Such is the nature of the blame culture we now live in. 9-11? Sorry but this is b*11*cks! I work in IT security and I am yet to see a company spend any money as a result of 9-11. However, wherever I turn I see companies blaming price increases on 9-11. Airlines are a prime example. 9-11 gave them the perfect opportunity to realign their businesses which resulted in many job losses and price increases. I am not complaining about anything they did as this is their business. The fact is, even if 9-11 hadn't have happened, they would have had to do it anyway. </Rant> Laz ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A foolproof method for sculpting an Elephant: First, get a huge block of marble. Because American airport security was shite. I once managed to walk onto a plane in Newark with a knife in my hand baggage that the X-Rays had picked up! I don't think computer security's had any extra spending though, mainly because OBL hasn't attacked any computer networks, at least not in a way that's detectable. Capenwray though? £6 to £10 in one fell swoop? Inflation rate of 1.1%? ------------------------------------- York BSAC Web Page: http://website.lineone.net/~york_bsac |

Third party insurance has seen astromical rises in the past four years or so, this is mainly due to underwriters withdrawing from the market and those who are left namining their own price. When did Capernwray last raise their prices? Their insurance will at least be a big five figure number, it may well be six figures, you need one hell of a lot of entrance fees to cover that! That is the price we all pay for the "anybody's fault but mine" blame culture, I don't blame the operators. Keith L |

I go up every few months, and over the last two years it seems to have risen a pound every time I visit. Now it is jumping £4 in one go - damn you Osama Bin Laden! Chris Quinn |

| third party insurance going up leaps and bounds every year-courtesy of claims companies. I contacted my insurers last year and asked what was going on-are you trying to put me out of business or what. Never had a claim yet here I am being penalised for the blame culture and people tripping over imaginary raised paving stones etc etc. One 2 day course used to cover my insurance and recognition fees - not anymore by a long way-so I have some sympathy with capenwray's reasoning. -- wavelength ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Posted via DeeperBlue.net - Your Online Resource for the UnderWater World. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ wavelength's Profile: http://forums.deeperblue.net/member....fo&userid=2853 View this thread on DeeperBlue.net: http://forums.deeperblue.net/showthr...threadid=49990 |
