| Hi All, I've taken up SCUBA Diving and would like to know anyone's opinions on the Aladin Pro Ultra ,Suunto Vyper & Vytek Dive Computers as I have bought most of the essential gear. I'm looking for ease of use, readability whilst diving and downloading to a PC or Pocket PC like the HP5550. Thanks Steve |

Lodas of people have Suunto's, most I know have the Vyper - works perfectly, no problems at all. I looked at the Aladin's too before I got mine, but I don't get on with the 'lick your fingers and hope for the best'-type buttons it has which immediately put those out for me. David |

The Aladin is used as a back up, a check if you like. You wont go far wrong with the Suunto.... Dave Morgan @ Work in the UK Take out the "goes diving" bit.... Trip photos on line at www.morg.co.uk |

It was too big for my wife's wrist though so she opted for the Mosquito. Vyper is a single-gas machine, so if you want more tech aproach, Vytec will offer gas switching and air integration (wireless). The Suunto machines are, IMHO, very user friendly. Buttons can be operated in thick gloves, and the readout of the display is good. The only thing it doesn't offer out of the box (from your requirements above) is downloading stuff to the pocketpc; however I have a feeling someone has made some software to handle that. Suunto only provides software for downloading profiles to a Windows PC. /Marcin |

| I like my vyper. It hasn't done anything bad to me. Can't say much more really, it just works. CAS -- Temperature @ Stoney? Find it or share it @ http://stoneytemps.calumscott.me.uk/ "The measure of a man's wealth is the fewness of his wants" - Jack Mullholand |

I've just bought one. At 199 quid for a two mix nitrox computer, it's a bargain. I haven't got it wet yet, but it's a doddle to set up. It does look a bit more conservative than my Cochran, but hopefully it's not as bad as a Vyper. I guess I'll find out in a couple of weeks, when I'll post a review on my site. | I have owned a number of Suunto machines over the years and have never had any complaints. My latest is a Cobra which has performed perfectly. With a very clear diaplay and all the functions I need (air integrated, console mounted, Notrox, PC Interface etc.) I'd reccomend it to anyone.
