Default Dry Suit Auto-Dump

Hi,

I just got a second hand drysuit for my daughter & it has a shoulder
auto dump. We have only ever used the standard cuff dump so would like
to know (or be pointed to details on) the correct usage of the auto
dump.

Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Nick

Personally I leave mine fully open in the water, only close it if I want to
keep lots of air in on the surface. It will generally dump the air for you,
although in reality I tend to just lift the shoulder very slightly if I want
to dump a little bit more.
Best advice is to just try it in the pool first, and then move to a
sheltered site until she gets used to it - if you just consider the position
of the dump, then its just a case of getting used to not lifting your arm,
and then getting used to the way it dumps and the speed it dumps.

Also, when I first started using mine (I too leave it fully or virtually fully
open when diving) I noticed that if my buddy was on my left hand side (the same
side my auto-dump is on) then every time i turned to look at him it started
dumping. Might want to bear that in mind if your daughter find she's sinking
unexpectedly...!
