well theres a thing I stand corrected. filling it would make it easyer to
turn off then, not so good.

Despite several dives of trying, I was unable to get sufficient contact
between any one of my fingers and the on-off switch to put it on-off and I
had to ask my buddy for help - having dry-gloves at the time (winter) did
not help. So ultimately I filed it. I filed it in a manner in which the
switch is still protected from two sides. Basically, I removed a sufficient
part of the toffle to get sufficient clearance to move the switch and not
more. So far, it did not turn on-off by accident and looking at it, it seems
rather unlikely that that would happen. As I transport the unit without the
battery, switching it on whilst not in use is not a risk. If it were to
happen underwater, I do not really care.

Rgs,

Niels

I'm not sure I'd worry overly much about depth ratings on things, my
expensive umbilical died half-way down the line for some reason
yesterday, the second time it's done it this year for no apparant
reason, so I switched to my somethingorother 40m rated back up torch
which did just fine at twice it's rated depth, completed the dive using
it

Ditto.

My UK800R has been to 93m. I really don't know what the depth rating
is, but it went down and came back without problems.

I have also taken my UK800R (now my spare torch) to 80+m with no problems.

If you didn't want an umbilical torch, then I'd also consider the Underwater
Kinetics HID - the performance underwater is very good, and there pretty
cheap (£250 odd?).

Cheers
Matt.
