Default weighting for waterproof case?

Just bought Canon powershot A80 with waterproof case for taking to Sharm
next month. Will I need to add any weight to it to keep it neutrally
buoyant? I've only ever used the disposable type of underwater camera before
and they are very buoyant.

I was thinking of glueing the lead weights that are used to balance car
tyres, the ones that are glued to your rim as I have access to them. If I
use this method what sort of glue is waterproof upto 40M and how much weight
do you think I would need?

Regards
Paul.

Archimedes principal: the up thrust is equal to the weight of water
displaced. It will be roughly rectangular so measure it in cubic
centimeters, each 1,000 cc's will give approx a kilogramme of up
thrust, you can weigh it to get the down thrust, the difference is the
buoyancy.

I would suggest a sea fishing weight as the easiest solution to
correcting it as this can be trivially attached to the lanyard with
out mucking about with glue

Don't mess with glue, gaffer tape and ti-raps are perfectly adequate.

That message was bought to you by the combined wisdom of the AA/PS dive
team. It's worked for them for years!

Why should it? It's a tried and tested technique that they have perfected
over many years. Hold it together with enough gaffer tape, ties, bits of
string, bent metal etc. etc. and it works. The only real problem is
differentiating your dive kit from the junk box

Next time someone fails to negotiate a car park I'm getting out the
gaffer tape and ti-raps....... tape across the mouth, ti-raps round
the neck.....

But seriously, if you glue something it's fairly permanent. If you tie
it on with tape and ti-raps it's easy to change.

Triumph T20S.

But in 1979 I had a CB900FA. Passed everything except petrol
pumps.....Once I filled up at Scratch Wood (M1) services, only to get
into Hilton Park (M6) on reserve. 2500 miles from a back tyre, 3500
from a front. Nice bike though.

Do you have access to a bath?

The Canon housing has a standard-size bush in the base which might make a
tidier job.
