Default Dive Insurance Recommendation

Recently I made a claim on my Dive Master (www.dive-master.net) insurance.
I thought that this NG would like to hear about the results of that claim.

Briefly, I suffered an accidental loss of an HID torch on a Thursday. I
returned from the dive trip on a Saturday and reported the loss to the
insurer on the Monday. The same day I heard by telephone that the claim
would be met in full. On the Tuesday I was told that 2 ancillary items
would be replaced and I could have either a cheque or a torch for the main
part of the claim; I took the cheque. The cheque arrived the following
Friday. The torch was insured for a lower amount than the insurance company
could replace it for - but the cheque included the full amount.

I can sincerely recommend Dive Master to you all - the premiums are very
competitive and the service is excellent.

Regards
Matt.

That's nice to know. I've just renewed mine and although
I hope to never have to deal with the claims side I'm pleased
to know they are as helpful as the people who take my money.

You don't want to know what my bill is. Stupid amounts of kit
and an all inclusive travel policy because it is remarkably hard
to get good travel insurance after a heart attack. However dive
insurance worries about my UKSD medical and anythng I do
out of the water is less risk.

Rats. I just realised I have to add the new torch.

Whilst on the subject of recommending Insurance companies.

Prudential home insurance - extra cover for sporting items (upto £1000 per
item - £50 excess)

Claimed for kowalski 620, lost at sea. Claim went through okay until they
HAD to have a post code where it was lost. A GPS position wouldn't do as
they couldn't fit into the spaces on the screen! Oh yeah it had to be
reported to the police, who were most helpful, well they said they would
keep an eye out for it anyway.

Torch lost on Sunday - replaced with new on Friday - so no real complaints.

Nigel
could you please consider contacting me direct (email is correct)
I have tried to email you direct but to no avail and I would like to discuss
with you an idea I have for an artical in support of divers with contra
indications to diving (heart attacks, diabetes, even hay fever.
Many thanks
Kind regards
Jeff

Well the CIS have house insurance that _doesn't_ cover diving kit -
needless to say that next time it comes for renewal I'll be looking into
someone else - BTW hwo did you get round the post code issue?

Direct Line insurance will cover dive kit, not in the event of a diving
accident, but if kit is 'lost' or 'accidently damaged' (if you have
accidental damage included in the policy).

I badly tore my freediving suit on the car door and Direct Line have
allowed me to get a new one made which they have paid for, less my £50
excess.
