Default PADI Junior Open Water

Can anyone let me know if the training aids for this (i.e the manual and
exam) are the same as for the Open Water Diver or is there a 'child
friendly' version?

thanks

Nick

There are no child's version. The Go-Dive crew pack is used for both
courses. The only thing that is different is the certification, all other
aspects of the course are identical.

Except of course (dependant on age..) the certified depth: 12 metres (10+11
years), plus Junior O/W must dive with someone who is at least 18 and is
certified..

cheers

I think (top of my head) - waits for flames but meaning to be helpful
- I have 2 child divers, just turned 13) that the buddy MUST be a
parent/guardian and./or profesiionally qualified instructor (if child
is 12 or less). At 13 and over it must be a "properly qualified diver"

............. (waiting to be corrected).

I haven't a child diver but understood it to be:

Age limit 10 y.o.
Above that PADI junior open water to 12m either with a diving parent or
PADI professional.

I think that's what you said .....

Junior open water divers,If they are 10 or 11 they must dive with a Parent,
Guardian or Padi Professional,
12-14 are qualified to dive only when accompanied by another certified diver
who is of legal age (18+)
they can upgrade to open water diver at 15 with no additional requirements.

Smaller point - it's certification not qualification.

seems the original point got a little lost in the depths, who can
dive, who cant and who with. I have 3 diver kids and all some probs
with the theory of the Jnr open water as the course mirrors the adult
one. RDP and the dreaded exam causing stress, the answer I found was
the PADI scuba diver course, this gets the kids in the water diving (
with a PADI pro) but they only cover the first 3 modules of theory,
pool and 2 open water dives. I beleive Kids can "upgrade" when they
are older and can get their heads around the theory. hope this helps

Hehe
I know lots of university students who can't get their head around some of
the theory too, your kids are probably doing well!
