Scubapro is the most widely used brand worldwide I.m.h.o. Paul, Only buy a mask, and perhaps fins & boots. Nothing else.. Don't buy anything else until you have completed the basic training. By then - a) you know that you're not going to give up and b) you know what suits you (which will change over time). I'm not sure if this is general but my (BSAC) club supply loan kit for the duration of the course. The kit is expensive. Even 2nd hand you'll do well to get everything for £700.00 Do the course, wait and see, and welcome to a very enjoyable hobby. Regards, Ron MacRae. |

Nothing else.. Hactually... If you are doing PADI Open Water buy mask, fins, booties and snorkel. > Don't buy anything else until you have completed the basic training. Yup. > By then - > a) you know that you're not going to give up > and Yup. > b) you know what suits you (which will change over time). Or at the very least you will start to get a fair idea of what you like what you don't like and build an opinion on what brands you feel comfortable with or scared by. > I'm not sure if this is general but my (BSAC) club supply loan kit for the > duration of the course. > The kit is expensive. Even 2nd hand you'll do well to get everything for > £700.00 Yup. You will struggle to get everything for £700. Buy the basics first spend what you have left on training, diving and renting kit - then start buying bit by bit. > Do the course, wait and see, and welcome to a very enjoyable hobby. Yup. Go to the dive shows too - you get a great day out and if there is something specific you want to buy you can try every possible version and generally get the best price. And welcome to UKRS, check the website (http://www.ukrecscuba.org.uk) for great links and info and loads more to get you started. If you can't find it on there - just ask, someone will know. CAS |

| Hi Paul, my advice would be not to buy any equipment (save for mask and fins) until you know what type of diving you wish to do, if you join a B.S.A.C. club they will have kit that you will be able to try, and it wont cost you an arm and leg, when you find out what you need and more important what you are happy with then go an bye.
