Default Advert: Free web design for Scuba Groups and Companies

Hi,

Please forgive me if this post is outside the group's charter.

I'm a freelance web designer with over 7 years' commercial
experience. I have worked for various large companies including
Nestle, Fidelity Investments, Hipp, Pot Noodle, British Virgin Islands
Tourist Board etc.

I would like to increase my monthly income, so in order to do this
I'm willing to design your website for free. In return the site will
need to be hosted with me for at least 2 years at a cost of £10 mth.
The only other cost will be a £10 charge to buy the website address
- ie mycompany.com or mycompany.co.uk.

What you will receive is a 3-5 page HTML based website that looks very
professional. No Frills, no Flash, Video or online shops.

The site will be individually designed for you. I don't use
templates or re-use designs. Some examples of my work which should
give you an idea of what you will get are:

www.healthandsafetyexpress.com
www.scubabvi.com
www.informedparent.co.uk
www.sedgeman.co.uk

Before I start I need you to supply the text to me by email as well as
your logo, if you have one, and any photos you want used.

Let me know what sites you like, what type of design you're after etc
and I will supply you with a prototype design (as a jpeg). You can
then give me your feedback and let me know what you want changed. I
will then send you the revised design for your approval. Once you are
happy with the design I will turn it into an html based website.

You can either pay for the two years' hosting up front (£240) or set
up a direct debit.

The copyright and ownership of the design will be mine in the first
place. After two years the ownership of the design will pass to you
and you can host it elsewhere if you please.

If you are interested then email me at getpublishing@hotmail.com.
Thanks,
Rich

Yea... And why doesn't he have his own web site and email address rather
than use a hotmail one? Prices are OK though, I guess, (about the same
as I charge for commercial hosting) but I wouldn't like a 2-year lock-in,
myself.

Maybe we should see if he will beat your fees Gordon? lol

btw Mr.Quick.. the website you're looking for it:
http://www.ukrecscuba.org.uk - though I don't expect he'll follow up
reading the newsgroups to see the response to his spam.. ah well.

I'm surprised you followed up your own post :)

have you looked at the current newsgroup website?
http://www.ukrecscuba.org.uk, there is an FAQ/charter hosted there.
Also, although I'm not part of the web team, I think you'll find that
the current system and costs are working out rather nicely :)

sorry and all that.

Well.... For commercial work, his fees are what I'd call reasonable, and
not dissimilar to mine (for pure hosting and email, I don't normally do
design!), but the terms I'd be wary of. For a personal/private bit of web
space with (hopefully) email forwarding if a domain is registered, it's
very expensive, however, it's hard to put a price on actual web pages -
if they fill your every desire and make you rich then they are priceless!

Adverts are permitted to an extent, but the wording of this one could
have been a lot better, along with a good example of what a 4 to 5 page
site might look like. I'm always wary of people who don't have their
own email addresses too....
