Default Twinning adaptors

I'm looking for a solution for travelling and setting up independant
twins. I already have buddy twinning blocks and have used them for
several years on and off, but I'm now looking for a solution that I
could just bolt directly onto my current backplate without having to
thread through it.

I thought that Narked at 60 had an adaptor that allowed the cylinders
to be cam-banded together and then provided a central point for bolting
through - esentially just replacing the steel bands with webbing and
retaining the central bolt point. This would be ideal.

Unfortunately I can't find it anywhere on their website and noone else
seems to make anything similar...

I'd really appreciate any advice/help that anyone has...

Dan.

If you use a backplate, why not simply take a set of stainless steel
twinning bands out with you and attatch them to a couple of cylinders when
you're out there?

That would leave the problem of slightly differing cylinder sizes which
wouldn't be (much) of an issue with webbing cam-bands and a central
block...

I've got exactly what you need.

I and most of my dive club needed exactly that solution, so I had a
converter set designed by a member of our club who is a professional
engineer & toolmaker. My wife & I and several members of our club
regularly use these for overseas trips, espeially to Europe & Red Sea where
their low weigh helps with the restrictive flight baggage limitations.

The complete kit, which works with your own blue buddy twinning blocks &
bands, comprises of 4 machined Delrin blocks and two Delrin spacer tubes,
two A4 threaded M8 studs, A4 wing-nuts & Nylock nuts.

Contact me off-list & I will send you a PDF with full details.

Probably not the solution you are looking for, but when you
next look at a new BC checkout the Zeagle Tec.
This is the only bit of kit I know that will take ANY combination.
I can have a single add a pony, stick on independents with buddy bands and
use a bolted twin with or without backplate.

If you use the buddy twinning bands BOTH are used, not just
one through and the other stuck on as an afterthought.

For versatility and options this really does cover every option.

And the Zeagle is a good BC for travelling as it folds down easily; however,
because it's a soft back type it does not suit many divers like myself who
want the stability of a hard backplate.

You could get a Zeagle and add a Ally backplate (as some mates have done)
then you could have the best of both worlds.

BTW if you want a exceptional quality hard anodised Ally backplate at a
reasonable price then I've got a few left. £45 each

Not quite!

Zeagle has soft (Ranger) and rigid (Tech).
Mine (Zeagle Tech) has a semi-rigid wrap-around that
will easily mimic a backplate. Twins can be fitted (and held
tight) with or without backplate.

That must be a different version of the Zeagle Tech that I had about 5 years
ago. The one I had (as well as a few of my mates) we ended up modifying
them and adding a backplate.

I use the Narked @ 60 adaptors and they work very well

I was a bit upset at paying the £70 price (no bands )for them as
am engineer who works with Sheet manufacturers its very Steep
unfrotunatly when i needed them last year i didnt have time to get
some made

Since useing them i have had a design idea for a set that can be
used for caming twins or as 2 Single tank adaptors or as a STA
and a Pony bottle clamp.

Mine are currently packed for South red sea in 2 days time :)
