Default Vytec or apeks quantum

Currently have the vyper- did think about going to VR2 but cannot justify
it.

Now looking at either vytec or quantum- diving to 40m on nitrox and single
deco gas- either 50 or 80%. Limited deco probably no more than 20 mins.

Which one should I go for and why

Also in the event that you lose deco gas does the vytec and the quantum
allow you to switch to back gas

thanks

ian

The Apeks is cheaper and will get you out of the water quicker. Up to you
if that's what you want.

Think both do. Apeks certainly does.

The only real downside of the Apeks is that the dive time isn't on the
primary display when you go into deco. Plus it's a bit conservative though
nowhere near as bad as the Vytec.

Errm,

The algorithm in the Quantum is raw Buhlmann unless you add an altitude
factor or two. Whether we consider raw Buhlmann conservative is another
question...

There have been a few reports from the US about Diverite Nitek Duo computers
(same machine as the Quantum) locking up and requiring factory maintenance.
Mine has worked well over some 50 dives now.

Compared to a Cochran it is... on a recent dive my Cochran was showing
4-5 mins stops when we left the bottom, Jason's Quantum had 11 mins IIRC.
