I have Chris Holden's book which covers the area from Barmouth to South Stack on Holyhead that you are welcome to loan. I'll bring it along on Thursday, although my backup plan if Abbs looks like it may be blown out is North Wales so I'd hang on to the book for the weekend - forecast for Abbs looks good though Hopefully others will be along soon who can offer some personal experience, and perhaps of the rest of Holyhead past South Stack. I did pretty much all of my previous diving around this area. I will bring in my log book on Thursday and pick out some good sites for you if you like. The only trouble with shore dives around trearrdur is getting the tides right. You will get a good dive in the kelp at High tide, but by low tide you'll be walking out quite a way to find the water. If it gets blown out it's not too far to get to Vivian or the other place (but that's a BSAC no no!) Also some wrecks on the straits side of angelesey, accessable from the shore, and drifts of course. -- Gareth Ansell UNIX Team Computing Services Coventry University |

The straits were okay BH w\end, but take local advice as to the currents, they can be tricky even on shore dives. Watch out for jetskiers, they tend to use SMBs as bouys! If you get blown out then Dottie is only 30 mins away. Alex |
