| Righty tighty, the new Vobster Quay map is now complete and available for download for those who might be interested. It's 99% there and certainly a lot more accurate than the old map so enjoy! A full list of bearings will be publiushed once the *new* Vobster website (which I'm working on at the mo) goes live in a couple of weeks time.... In the meantime, you can download the new map here... http://www.bardo.co.uk/vobstermap.pdf Obviously you'll need the Acrobat Reader to view this file. You can download it from Adobe here... http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readermain.html Any comments on the new map (good, bad and constructive) gratefully received... |

Around the plane and the crushing works, it's still reasonably balmy (I'm still diving those parts of the quarry without hood and gloves!) but go any deeper and you hit a sharp thermocline below 14m. I was over there yesterday - it's nice having a whole dive centre to yourself and your buddy! - doing some photography for the new website and down at 26m (ie. centre section of the plane) it was bleedin' cold! By the end of November, I expect the water temperature to start dropping in the warmer parts of the quarry too... |

I thought I'd given up quarry diving though, but then came the Freedivers that I somehow seem to have gotten mixed up with ... (!!!) The bottom of Chepstow was a balmy 5C last weekend.. It can only get colder. (Some of the UK Freedivers are now hitting 60m+) What it's like to look at Freedivers underwater: http://www.drogon.net/plate.jpg Other stuff: http://www.drogon.net/personal/photo...stow-17-07-04/ Gordon Ps. If anyones interested in Freediving, there are courses being run at the SETT - have a look at www.deeperblue.net/courses |

And something else just occurred to me - I have no idea where Vobster is, but how about an address and contact details on the map? I suppose it depends how the map will be used - will it just be an image on their website, or will it be printed for people to use too? David |

| What a great write up Nigel and I agree, it is the only way to dive the SETT. I did it for the first time Sept 03 and loved it - I now freedive regularly in those balmy waters of the NDC that Gordon speaks so fondly of!! Anyone thinking about trying freediving should definately give it a go in the SETT - fantastic weekend. Jason, Big improvement on the old map! As David Walker says, it might be good to add another map of how to get to the car park - as well as from the car park to the plane's fusilage..! ;) -- wilbo Cheers, Wilbo. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Posted via DeeperBlue.net - Your Online Resource for the UnderWater World. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ wilbo's Profile: http://forums.deeperblue.net/member....nfo&userid=187 View this thread on DeeperBlue.net: http://forums.deeperblue.net/showthr...threadid=53715 |
