| Jeez! Just got back from Marsa Alam last night. Excel lost my luggage so I had a whole week on Tiger Lily without my clothes and dive gear. Had to hire a whole set of equipment at a cost of £113. Luggage at Serviceair desk on arrival back at Gatwick. Needless to I am going for some sort of compensation for the stress of arrival, cost and having to get used to new gear Going for Excel first and then looking at my dive insurance. Any advice??????? Diving was great but St John's reef was very busy with loads of divers. Eddie |

Funnily enough, exactly the same happened to me last February with Excel - had all my dive gear and clothes in a single large bag so I ended up doing a week's liveaboard using rented equipment and wearing clothes lent to me by the dive guard (top bloke!). Got back to the UK and Regal Diving didn't want to know - to say I was unimpressed is an understatement! Although I don't blame them for losing my luggage, I do blame them for leaving me stranded at the airport on arrival! They even had the cheek to effectively claim that I was lying about telling a Regal rep inside the airport to wait for me. Cheeky B*stards. I then tried to claim off my travel insurance. Standard procedure in cases like this with any travel insurance claim is that you have to send a letter to the airline complaining about them losing your luggage which I did. In the letter I explained all that had happened and that I had been forced to hire dive equipment for the trip at a cost to myself of about £185 for the week. I sent the letter off to Excel expecting to get some standard 'Sorry for the inconvenience' letter - what I did not expect, however, was a letter saying 'terribly sorry - here's a cheque for £185' which is what I actually received from them! Although I was a little pissed off that Excel (well, the baggage handlers, to be precise) had lost of my bags (which I did get back, I might add), the fact that they sent me a cheque covering all my out of pocket expenses more than restored my faith in them. Nice on, Excel! Unfortunately, the same cannot be said of Regal Diving. I've always booked through Regal Diving in the past but I will never do so again. To effectively be accused of lying by them and then being offered a £30 discount off my next booking was nothing short of a slap in the face. I'd advise anyone thinking of booking a trip to the Red Sea to avoid Regal - they might be great when things go wrong but as soon as things go wrong, they don't want to know!!!!! |
