316. I have one from the first batch and it is unmarked
5 years and 340 plates later. I don't think 304 would
manage that. I didn't think it was much cheaper, just a
bit easier to work with cutting tools. Since we lasered
and bent it and passed it on unfinished it didn't impact
us. I admit that for a finished product 304 might save
a few bob.

Perhaps prices have shifted and I'm out of touch.

Although 304 is not as corrosion resistant to salt water as 316.
