Yep, so you need to pack properly. Regs, in a regbag, wrapped in a wetsuit
in the centre of the case with clothes packed all around must be safe
enough. You could take a hammer to the outside of the case and not hurt
them.

Otherwise, I can see no reason not to pack them. They are insured, so I'm
not going to worry about theft unduly (new for old replacement would save
the cost of a reg service).

To dispel the common myth, the baggage hold is pressurized. Many people
think that it is not, but it is. It is not necessarily heated so it could be
down to -40 or so.

I have spent most of my working life checking in professional camera
equipment with huge overall values and much more fragile than any diving
gear without any problems.
