Which is one very good reason to let someone else carry it!!!! > Oh, and you have watched what baggage handlers do to your stuff, haven't > you? Yep, so you need to pack properly. Regs, in a regbag, wrapped in a wetsuit in the centre of the case with clothes packed all around must be safe enough. You could take a hammer to the outside of the case and not hurt them. Otherwise, I can see no reason not to pack them. They are insured, so I'm not going to worry about theft unduly (new for old replacement would save the cost of a reg service). To dispel the common myth, the baggage hold is pressurized. Many people think that it is not, but it is. It is not necessarily heated so it could be down to -40 or so. I have spent most of my working life checking in professional camera equipment with huge overall values and much more fragile than any diving gear without any problems. Keith |
