Definitely drysuit, I wouldn't give it a second thought. Regs are regs as long as they work (which anywhere you hire them from should be serviced and fine). A BCDs even more like that - as long as it inflates and deflates its fine. A drysuit however you need to get used to, needs to fit, needs not to leak... and thats assuming that you could hire one if you wanted to (a lot of places won't rent them out at all). There is the argument that the regs keep you alive and so more important, but i think comfort and convenience long term are greater concerns than the tiny chance that your hired reg fails completely while you're nowhere near your buddy, etc... Yes, it is important to have gear that fits you well and you know, but if you're planning on mainly diving the red sea then you'll need different kit to the north sea. For UK diving I would say get a good suit first. Then a computer. Then BC, then regs. For tropical, get the computer first. ------------------------------------- York BSAC Web Page: http://website.lineone.net/~york_bsac |
