I've got a fair amount of experience with these (Mares regs), and this
adjustment is generally only an interim fix - the usual culprit is a
pressure seat. If it is only the octopus then it is likely that the
seat in the 2nd stage is damaged/nicked and is not seating properly. If
both the Primary and Octo do this then it's probably the HP seat in the
1st stage.

I don't want to be accused of talking crap, so I'd just like to say
that I spent a year servicing these at a school that only used Mares
regs for teaching, so I have a pretty good understanding of them. (I
have a set of my own as well).
