Had one down to 35 meter with a DV cam in it - 12 dives and it hasn't
flooded (yet!!!)

Yes - works well, until you drop the magnet of course :)

The alternative is to keep the flash on all the time. It won't consume much
power if it's not being used. Depends on the flashgun. A suck-and-see
affair, depending on your flashgun.

Thyristor controlled flashguns have been around for many years and
virtually all generic auto flash's use thyristor control. What it does
is to stop the flash when the exposure is correct, preserving the
ballance of the charge. Hence the recycle time is greatly shortened.

In the past flash's dumped the charce not used so recycle time was
consistant, and long.
