I am looking at buying a car. I would like..... It's the same sort of question. There is some stuff on http://www.ukrecscuba.org.uk/ but mainly we can only tell you that the particular one we have is OK and we like it but that they last so we've not tried lots. I have an Otter Britanic. First class but expensive. I would recomend the words Membrain, Auto dump and Made-to-measure but although I can say Otter are good so are lots of other companies. That's the reasonable answer. The unreasonable one is at http://www.nigelhewitt.co.uk/diving/...x.html#drysuit nigelH |

The unreasonable one is > at http://www.nigelhewitt.co.uk/diving/...x.html#drysuit I would not normally respond to this but the original respondent's address seems to be Australian (@telstra.com). I agree with your sentiments that membrane (note?) is the go, mine is a DUI suit and I very rarely use it seeing as I live just north of Sydney (winter approaches) so that it looks as good as new although pretty well eight years old. Yes, it has the shoulder auto dump and, yes, I use it to keep comfortably warm and use the wing to keep me at equilibrium. There are a number of Oz manufacturers now (eight years ago when I first had it I was looked upon as if I were a spaceman and there were precisely none) but I have no idea of who they are. I also agree with you, having done extensive research all those years ago (thanks, DIR, for one) that a membrane suit is much preferable - until the next you-beaut thing comes along. Cheers, Christian |

| I should add: > I would like to know what type is better neoprene, or membrane, Membrane, for all the reasons Nigel has described. > how much i should pay, Depends on where you are. Oz? Tailor made? Dry suits are much better tailor made, trust me, go with the additonal expense, you'll eventually thank me for it. If it "fits" better, it will wear better. The inverted commas around that "fit" bit mean that dry suit fit is relative. Usually it looks like an overgrown bag, definitely not glamorous. > who are the best Manufactures Always a subjective answer - sorry. I'm more than happy with my (US) DUI (very expensive), Nigel is equally happy with his (UK) Otter which is , I believe, not quite as expensive in the UK and quite possibly a good as, maybe even better, than my DUI.
