Full face as in a kirby?
http://www.divingsystems.com/Product.html

or do you mean one like this
http://www.airsource-one.com/aga.html

just bear in mind the "buddy"consequences----yours gives up for what ever
reason, now you have no mask (yeh spare mask in pocket) etc etc.
Have tried them, and honestly like them for the comfort /vision etc--just too
much farting around should things go wrong-as in you have to remove all to
get an alternate air supply/find the mask in your pocket(which you left on
the boat)--not conjucive in my mind to a relaxed problem solve.-the Kirby
should only be dived proffesionally.

There is no legal requirement to take a course in anything to do with
diving, whether it be full face, rebreather, surface supply, open circuit
etc. for personal use. If you can get the equipment you are entitled to jump
in the sea and do whatever you like, without any training whatsoever.
Whether it is sensible to do so is another matter entirely. How much do you
value your life?

Cliff.

masks like the divator and the ocean reef are i believe designed for
scuba. i think some dive centres offer speciality courses in those. i
think the masks adapteble with surface supplied air source such as the
kirby morgan bandmasks are covered under comercial diver training. as
far as im aware there isnt any requirement for additional training for
those masks for scuba, but i would imagine that the supplier would be
able to direct you as to centres offering training, i would highly
recommend doing some form of training in using them, there is a lot of
perks, but a freeflow would be a pain
