Are you sure you don't mean 'similar to leasehold'? My understanding is
that with a feu you do not own the land but pay a landlord some (usually
minimal) fee on an anual basis for having your house on his land. If that
is the case it would be similar to the English / Welsh leasehold situation.
Quite likely I am wrong though!

Good luck with your sale.

Cheers,

M.

Hi your probably mixing it up with fuedal tenure see....
The Abolition of Feudal Tenure (Scotland) Act 2000
The Abolition of Feudal Tenure (Scotland) Act 2000 abolished the feudal
system of owning land in Scotland and replaced it with a system of outright
ownership of land.

Fue is the outright owning of land now - same as freehold now

Feudal Tenure ceased to exist on 28th November 2004. Land is now held
outright. Most feudal conditions are therefore now unenforceable. There
may be some conditions that have survived by virtue of being 'community
burdens' etc. or by having been preserved prior to 28/11/04 by virtue
of a Section 18 notice or might be preserved, with the owner's consent,
post 28/11/04 with a Section 19 notice. There may be some compensation
payable to the former feudal superior if there was outstanding
feuduty.

It's all much simpler now...until your consider the Title Conditions
Act, aarghh.
