| Dave, I was at Marsa Nakari last November (water temp 27-28C). Its a remote site south of the larger Shagra camp. Nakari has its own reefs (North and South) that you can dive at your own leisure. However, because its more remote and smaller than the Shagra camp there's not much else to do, unless you arrange something. I didn't stay at the larger Shagra camp, just took a trip out to Elphinstone from there ( a must if you can) but got the impression that there's a lot more going on, more people and also a nicer facilities than Nakari. However, Shagra hasn't got its own reef and I think any dives are from the boats (RIBS). When I was in Nakari, there were over twenty of us from our club to keep each other company. We got to meet some nice people from various corners of the globe who came with us on some dives. The staff were great, the Germans were polite and the Dutch drank more than us!. As with any trip to Egypt, bring something to combat the dreaded runs! (and boy, do you get them). So in short, if you want to go for the diving only go to Nakari, if you want a diving holiday go to Shagra. That my two cents worth, hope it's of some use. <northdavid@hotmail.com> wrote in message news:1118999642.260624.189000@g49g2000cwa.googlegr oups.com... > Guys > > After what has seemed like an eternity off diving (18months) due to > 'ear problems' I finally have the all clear to get back in the water; > which I will be doing in the UK shortly, after I get that kit serviced! > > I want to head back to the red sea with my girlfriend who only recently > did her OW, having regard to this I am not proposing a livaboard. > > I also would rather avoid the anarchy that is Sharm habour every day so > have focused on the Oonusdivers trips in the subject line. > > Has anyone been on one of these live on the beach, dive as much as you > want trips, and what was it like..........I am looking for a nice > gentle introduction to warm water diving for my girlfriend, who learnt > in the UK. > > Thanks > > > Dave > |
