| Hi folks - Tommorrow (Wed) and Thurs a team from Southampton University will be carrying out an archaeological survey of this WWII site. This is in furtherance of one of the team's BA dissertation. The intention is to erect a series of 'control points' (basically rebar driven into the seabed, and upstanding about 1.5m) around the site. The 'Cuckoo' will need to be 'cleaned' so we can locate some datum point on the vessel. All measurements will then be recorded -CP to CP, Datum to Datum, and CP to datum - around 900 measurements we reckon! We hope to finish the work this week, but weather and tide might mean us returning at a later date. If this is so, the control points and datums will have to stay in position. We would crave your indulgence by please leaving the site as you find it. We accept there will be some short-term disturbance to the site - particularly with regard to plant growth - but this will soon return. We are not planning a totally asceptic 'Scylla'!.
