I take it you're from Andover? If so, do you dive with a local BSAC club? I live in Andover (although am looking at a move to Southampton before Christmas). I've been thinking about BSAC (up until now, all my stuff has been in warm waters with PADI). -- David Mahon |

If all else fails, do it yourself. It's not difficult if you prepare well. The hardest part is getting all the remnants of old seal and glue off the suit. Cliff. |

| Guys, The lack of any positive response on this confirms my straw poll of calls to about a dozen dive shops. I can't find a single dive shop in the south of England, actually the area from the edge of London to Postsmouth to Weymouth to Bristol to Reading, that will replace a neck seel in less than a week, and most quote 2 weeks or more. Most dive shops just appear to be shops now, with no facilities/services other than air. It seems most of them farm out all repairs & servicing to a couple of companies which, IMO, is the reason why most have a 2 week turnaround. Last time I needed neck&cuff seels, a couple of years ago, I got them changed in 3-4 days. Support your local dive shop!! Why should I? They don't appear to support me. I think I'll start buying my dive kit on the internet. Am I expecting too much? Is this unreasonable? Regards, Ron MacRae. > Guys, > Anyone know a dive shop that will change a neck seel in less > than > a week within an hour's drive of Andover? > My neck seel has started to go and I got a bit damp yesterday. Having said all that, it is the busiest time of the year for diving [1] so they probably have a stack of "urgent" jobs. As others have mentioned, I think the only way out of this is to do it yourself, or offer a LDS worker an hour of whatever their overtime rate is to do it that night. If I was working in an LDS, and someone offered me that as an incentive, I'd go for it. My old LDS in Edinburgh turned round neck seals and cuffs pretty quickly, although my preference these days is to send the suit back to the manufacturer. Almost the same price, but original components which guarantee compatability. Ben [1] Some folk would call it the "season", but I've never understood the concept of voluntarily not diving. |

Deepblue in Plymouth changed one for my son last year which he tore on the Saturday and dived the suit again on Monday. Admittedly there was a wine bottle still up the sleeve when he unpacked it on the boat after picking it up. 8) Actually they aimed to do it overnight but on Sunday morning apologised and leant us a suit. Sadly Plymouth was out of the range you quoted. nigelH |

You couls try Aquarius in Didcot, but I somewhat doubt they'd turn it around that quick either this time of year. I sent my Gates suit back to Scotland and they turned it round in a few days. - Keith |

Complain! I have three shops within half a dozen miles or so of my home - in Gloucester, Cheltenham and Tewkesbury - all of which do seal replacements in house. Perhaps you should move! R. |
