So very glad the outcome was the right one, well done to you all for doing what needed to be done and obviously doing it well. As David says, tho, if the divers involved want to, it would be good to know what caught them out (says he after being very nearly caught out by some wicked downcurrents on a wall dive yesterday...) Diver one was diving a drager dolphin SCR rebreather. His dive went normally, with 27 mins of stops to do he fired the SMB from the bottom (31M) and started to ascend. The ascent went as planned until about 25M where something, the diver does not know what started to run away on a buoyant ascent. He pulled the neck seal of the suit thinking that it was that, it wasn't, he did however flood the suit. He was not able to reel in the line fast enough on his SMB, that line then got caught round him as he ascended reducing his ability to do much to try to sort things out. When he surface another boat that had seen the line rapidly appearing at the surface picked him up and freed him, he was then transferred to our boat. Diver Two was diving twins, he left the bottom with stops (I don't know how much) and proceeded on a normal ascent, he got to stop depth and stopped, completing most of his deco. With 2 mins of deco left someone else's SMB went past him and tangled in his, he was then dragged up, he did release his SMB, by this time however it was too late and he was on the surface. Hope that answers any questions. Danny |
