I have the Canon A70 with its UW case - I don't know how similar the A610 case is, but the A70 case is a bit dodgy. The last time I used it I got quite a bit of water inside although I couldn't see any problem with the O-ring. Fortunately the camera seems to have survived but I'm very nervous about taking it under water again. If I had the choice again I'd certainly try a find a camera which has a double O-ring case available. -- "A democracy is nothing more than mob rule, where fifty-one percent of the people may take away the rights of the other forty-nine." - Thomas Jefferson |

| Been 'digital on land' for a number of years, so thinking of going digital for underwater. Unfortunately the cost of a UW housing for my Canon G3 is more than the cost of the camera, so have decided to get something new. Done a lot of trawling the net ... and for 3-4 dive trips a year, the choice seems to be between the Canon A610 5 megapixel £340 Or Fuji F810 6 Megapixel £370 Both seem very capable models, with purpose built 40m polycarbonate UW housings. I have always had Canon Cameras, but currently leaning to the Fuji as it works in wide screen (16:9) format, and the LCD display is also 16:9. This means pics will look much better on a wide screen telly ... where I usually look at them. Anybody any comments ... +ve or -ve on either models. |
